Because we are important
We are important, gentlemen. We only occupy our time with great matters, and we only think about fateful decisions. We are wonderful and we know that we are. Consider the splendor and good fortune! .. How many people have lived and died without knowing that they are important? But true magnificence comes when a wonderful person knows that he is wonderful. There is that skinny employee who works for us in the company. His name is (Salah) or (Saleh), as I remember. It is an example of the way in which a person is completely unimportant.. Nothing to occupy him and nothing in his fly-like mind. There was a meeting of the company's executives at ten o'clock in the morning. No one showed up until eleven, but this goodness was there. In the hall at exactly ten o'clock. He is punctual in all his appointments and you can set the clock on him. But the reason should not amaze you. The reason is simply that he is not important at all and there is nothing real to occupy him. That's why he is punctual. It's easy. To be punctual when you are a nobody and nothing concerns you. Important people are always late because they have a million things on their mind. When the French experts came, the translator did not come with them (because he is also important). Thus, a crowd of people descended on the meeting room because understanding with them was impossible, but (Salah) announced that he was fluent in French and began to communicate with them and translate. To us and they seemed satisfied... This is easy.. His mind is already empty.. When your skull is filled with emptiness, it is easy to fill it with French, Urdu, and Cuneiform.. He is not busy with big matters, so he has all the time to study trivial things like French.. When the French proposed... He addressed some problems related to the goods we produce, and showed them some marketing solutions. They seemed pleased and amazed, and one of them was fluent in English, so he asked me in a whisper: “Who is this man who is speaking to us?” I said to him in disgust. A young employee of ours said with astonishment: “If this was the way a young employee of yours thought, what would the managers be like?” “I am truly amazed by you.” You have hit the nail on the head. Salah is a small employee who derives his life, his livelihood, and his opinions from great people like us. A terrible thing happened at the end of the meeting. A fire broke out in the building. We heard screaming. We ran out of the hall, heading to... The elevator, and we found smoke all over the place and we could no longer see anything. Salah shouted in a commanding tone: “Do not use the elevators in case of fire.” Then he repeated the order in French. He ordered us to crawl on our bellies. The reason, as he said, was that the fresh air was close to the floor. Thus, we will not receive a toxic dose of carbon monoxide. I remember the name of this gas, but I do not remember what it is exactly. It crawled until it reached a window overlooking the street, smashed it to let in air, then returned to administer artificial respiration to a French expert who had lost consciousness. The important thing is that the fire department came and saved him. They addressed the situation and praised him for his good behavior. The firefighter said to me: “If this were your employee, what would you think?” “The truth is that this (Salah) proves to me every day the truth: some people are created to remain small forever... No matter how hard they try, they cannot live up to our mentality, ingenuity, and prudence. Salah has a completely empty mind, which is why he shows up precisely on appointments, and for this reason he is fluent in French or Russian, if I wanted, and he finds quick solutions, and knows all the nonsense that a person should adhere to when a fire occurs... This is his business and this is his mental level without any hope of improvement. This is why we get our huge salaries, and this is why he gets his small salary.. This is why we are the managers and he Just an employee who is easy to get rid of at any moment... The narrow-mindedness of some people really drives me crazy.
